Interactive Health Technology Helps Increase Protection Against Sexually Transmitted Diseases in College Students
Newton, MA (PRWeb) March 22, 2007 -- Dr. Sarah Lord, Director of College Health and a senior researcher at Inflexxion, Newton, MA, recently presented findings from a study of an online sexual risk prevention program at a conference sponsored by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) in Washington, DC.
Dr. Lord presented the development process and the study results of MyStudentBody STDs, part of the Inflexxion MyStudentBody® College Health Suite. Compared to a control group, students who utilized the online MyStudentBody STDs program were approximately four times more likely to use condoms at six month follow-up. These results were statistically significant. "The study suggests that campus-sponsored online sexual risk prevention education can be very effective for college students," stated Dr. Lord.
The conference, entitled Augmenting HIV Prevention Using Information Technology, was held on March 1 and March 2.
