Intertek signs agreement with BRE Global to provide life safety/security product testing for North America (ETL) OR EMEA (LPCB) certification

Boxborough, MA (PRWEB) April 11, 2008 -- Intertek (LSE: ITRK), a global leader in testing, inspection and certification, has announced an agreement with BRE Global, a leading European certification/approvals body, to provide Life Safety/Security product manufacturers with testing and certification for the North America, Europe, Middle East, African and Asian markets. One call to either party can lead to Intertek's ETL certification for access to North America or BRE Global's LPCB certification for Europe, Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Intertek and BRE Global have created a single-point-of-contact model that will help manufacturers streamline the process and save them time and money. Clients running a concurrent certification program for both North America and EMEA will benefit from dedicated project management assistance and cost efficiencies.

"This partnership enables fast, efficient testing and certification for Life Safety and Security product manufacturers" said Gregg Tiemann, president of Intertek Commercial and Electrical division. "For those industry leaders who emphasize bringing life-saving products to market faster, this is an opportunity for them to deliver on that promise".

Intertek is a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) in the U.S. and a Testing Organization and Certifying Body in Canada. It issues the ETL Listed Mark as proof of compliance to applicable UL, CSA, and ANSI safety standards. The ETL Listed Mark is the fastest growing safety certification mark in North America. BRE Global is a Notified Body (NB) in the EU to the Construction Products Directive and issues certificates of conformance to the CPD. It also owns and issues the LPCB Listed Mark that demonstrates independent third party compliance to applicable fire and security standards. LPCB is highly regarded and accepted throughout the growing economies of the Middle East, Asia and Africa.

Manufacturers of Life Safety/Security products around the world stand to gain efficiencies from this joint effort. "Our arrangement with Intertek is designed to service those companies in our growing client base who want a joint approach to testing and certification for European and North American markets and beyond," added Philip Field, Director of Fire and Security for BRE Global.
