Widefield Technology, Inc.'s Eco Energy Council Webcast features Ted Geilen, Senior Utilities Engineer of the California Public Utilities Commission

Scottsdale, AZ (PRWEB) April 11, 2008 -- Widefield Tech Inc. is meeting the untapped need in the utility market for discussion to address the blended issues of environment and energy. Since its inception in January 2008, the Eco-Energy Council (EEC) has welcomed utility participants representing more than 15 million consumers. Participants dynamically contribute to the success of the EEC through monthly webcasts, spurring dialogue around the issue of residential energy management and technological advancements that provide the necessary tools to reduce energy consumption, protect our environment, and educate consumers in their stewardship of our world. Industry standards in technology have been the primary focus for March and April, with communications being of particular interest.

"Brent Hodges of the ZigBee Alliance led March's webcast speaking about the ZigBee standard and its communication platform in his presentation, "Recent Advances in Home Area Networks (HAN) and the ZigBee Smart Energy Profile Promote Interoperability and Enhance the Ability to Impact Management of Energy Consumption." This week, the EEC addressed in its April webcast Perspectives & Approaches with guest speaker Ted Geilen, Senior Utilities Engineer for the California Public Utilities Commission. Geilen is the Division of Ratepayer Advocates principal analyst in charge of policy for the AMI projects for San Diego Gas and Electric (SDG&E), Southern California Edison (SCE), and Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E). Geilen's presentation, "Energy Consumption from Information Feedback", focused on how nascent Home Area Network (HAN) gateway standard can create value for utilities, vendors, and ratepayers. The presentation furthered the council's dialogue addressing the issues on utility's minds including descriptions of information feedback, real-time information-feedback systems, the logic behind connecting these systems via AMI, and the benefits of these systems to utilities, vendors, ratepayers, and politicians.

Widefield Technology, CEO, Richard Mueller commented, "We formed the Eco-Energy Council to address the blended issues of environment and energy that were covered at our annual Thought Leader Summit in 2007. We wanted to provide an official, but casual forum for hands-on input into in-home energy presentment and smart usage management. It's working and we welcome other utilities to participate."
