Technology Transfer Program: National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL)

Minneapolis, MN (PRWEB) April 28, 2008 -- The American Filtration and Separation Society (AFS) will be holding its 21st Annual Conference, May 19-22, in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania. The conference consists of over 80 technical presentations in the filtration and separation industry.

As part of this conference the AFS is pleased to facilitate collaboration between several major US National Laboratories, Federal Research Groups and our AFS R&D membership. Our panel will introduce available technical services, technologies, and collaborative research opportunities at several US National Laboratories. In addition one of our speakers will talk to the actual process itself.

Current panel experts include DOE, DOD, EPA, FLC, independent development firms and others. These experts include, The Director of Separations and Fuels Processing, technology transfer managers, research engineers, and senior scientists all whom are ready to field questions from an eager AFS research and business development audience to answer: "The How, Where, When and Who of National Laboratory Technology Commercialization."

This special session is kicked off by a presentation by Abbie Layne, currently Director of Separations and Fuels Processing Division-Office of Engineering Research. Her topic is "Technology Transfer Program: National Energy Technology Laboratory(NETL)"

The function of Separations and Fuels Processing Division is to conceive, plan, manage and conduct exploratory and applied research, in conjunction with Focus Area leaders, in the areas of separations science and technology, gasification and fuels reforming, and materials with application to the interface between resource processing and end use technologies, and investigate theoretical and fundamental phenomena to support program needs and develop new concepts. The research focus of the Division is to develop improvements in separations science and technology, gasification and fuel reforming, and materials technology to improve efficiency and reduce emissions in support of FE programs in advanced, clean energy systems, carbon sequestration science, and other DOE programs.
