Quartesian Adopts OpenClinica for Electronic Data Capture
Princeton, NJ (PRWEB) July 2, 2008 -- Quartesian, a multi-national Contract Research Organization specializing in data management, statistics, medical writing and eClinical technologies, announces it has selected OpenClinica as its Electronic Data Capture (EDC) (http://www.openclinica.org/section.php?sid=1) solution for its clients' clinical trials.
Quartesian represents one of a growing number of contract research organizations turning to OpenClinica to manage their studies.
"We love the open source approach" said Benjamin Jackson, Quartesian President & CEO. "We have chosen OpenClinica as our EDC solution in part because it fits our current business need for low cost rapid implementation of EDC for Phase I trials. It also aligns with our strategy to bring our infrastructure and processes for data management in line with the current thinking of open source systems, data interoperability and the re-engineering of the clinical trial process."
OpenClinica's enterprise-quality architecture, robust feature set, and free open source license is appealing to CROs who are looking to standardize on an EDC solution. It can be deployed quickly and used cost effectively in clinical studies of all sizes and types. In addition, many CROs have modified OpenClinica's source code and integrated it with other internal systems to "make it their own."
Indeed, Quartesian's CEO sees OpenClinica as a key component to the firm's strategy. According to Jackson, "After we release our version of OpenClinica in the fourth quarter of 2008, we look forward to providing OpenClinica as our first solution for data capture and data management for clinical trials in oncology, human growth hormone, vaccines, urology, and repertory, and other areas."
"We are thrilled to have Quartesian involved in the OpenClinica community," said Paul Galvin, Product Manager at Akaza Research, the creators of OpenClinica. "The richness and breadth of OpenClinica's global community drives the product's quality and evolution."
